Special Board Meeting-Mask Mandate Update

Huntington Beach, CA-As president of the Board of Trustees, I called a Special Meeting tonight to discuss how the District is moving forward with California’s new mask guidance for schools and to provide an opportunity for the Trustees and community to express their thoughts on the matter. We decided not to extend the mask mandate beyond the Governor’s expiry date.

After hearing from the community and each other, the Board made the following determinations:

✔️Masking will continue to be mandated indoors for all OVSD students and staff until 11:59 pm on Friday, March 11.

✔️Beginning March 12, masks will be strongly recommended, but not required, indoors for students and staff in OVSD schools and facilities.

✔️This guidance is for both vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals.

✔️OVSD schools will continue to provide optional masks for students and staff.

✔️Existing mask requirements remain for those returning after COVID isolation or quarantine.
